Sustainability at the Waldhof

Heating

The Waldhof is the only hotel in the Arlberg region to use geothermal energy to provide hot water, underfloor heating and ventilation. This makes us not only CO2 neutral, but CO2 positive. As our energy supply comes directly from the hydroelectric power station here in St Anton am Arlberg, we are virtually independent of other electricity suppliers.

Furnishings

Our furniture is made from local Swiss stone pine, larch and spruce and is untreated. Our fabrics - upholstery, curtains,... are made from pure new wool - loden. Handmade ceramics from Gmunden make our guests' hearts beat faster.

Hygiene & Cleaning

All hygiene and cleaning products are environmentally certified. Our disinfectants come from PepUp and are made from organic products.

We use only biodegradable cleaning products from Hollu. We take great care to ensure that the detergents and cleaning products we use are eco-labelled.

Preventing waste and food waste

As a sustainable hotel, correct waste separation is a matter of course. In the kitchen, in the rooms and in the spa. In the restaurant, we use cloth napkins instead of paper napkins, and make sure that the food is of high quality and locally sourced.

Our sustainable breakfast

Instead of a crowded breakfast buffet, we bring our guests a fine selection of fresh and local delicacies straight to their table. Guests can enjoy our homemade jams and spreads, a fine selection of charcuterie and cheeses, homemade sweet pastries, cereals, bread straight from the bakery and fresh fruit and vegetables (from the hotel garden in summer).

Energy and Water Consumption

For the sake of the environment, we have deliberately decided not to have a swimming pool in the hotel. Just a few minutes away, our guests can enjoy the extensive wellness facilities at the Arlbergbad, with indoor and outdoor pools and a sauna area.

Instead of a transfer to the ski area, enjoy the winter landscape

Sounds like a wonderful idea! It's only a 15 minute walk (downhill) from the hotel to the ski lift. A great way to enjoy the beauty of winter. The magical backdrop of the snow-capped Arlberg mountains, the crunch of snow under your feet, the clear air and the view of the perfectly groomed slopes. Pure anticipation! Warm up at the ski depot and head straight for the Galzigbahn lift.

After an eventful day and tired legs, the village bus (every 10 minutes) will take you back to the hotel.
